Sensei Buddhi Bahadur Gurung ( Retired )

Sensei Buddhi Bahadur Gurung ( Retired )was born and brought up in West Nepal, Gorkah District in 1961. He is the younger of two sons. After he finished high school education in his home town, he got enlisted in Singapore Police Force Gurkha Contingent in 15 January 1980. He started to train in Kyokushin Karate ever since he completed his basic training as a Gurkha Police. He obtained his 1st Dan black belt in 1986. He has participated in many tournaments, some of them are shown as below:

  • 1st Gurkha Contingent Junior Belt Tournament in 1985
  • 4th Placing for Singapore National Selection Tournament in 1987
  • Represented Singapore in 5th World Tournament, Tokyo Japan in 1991


Sensei Buddhi ( Retired ) then obtained his 2nd Dan Black Belt in 1996 and his 3rd Dan Black Belt from Japan in 2003. In 2004, he took over the position as the Chief Instructor of Gurkah Dojo from Sensei Homnath Gurung 4th Dan ( Retired ). He has served in Gurkha Dojo for 26 years and as a committee member of Singapore Oyama Karate-do Kyokushin-Kan for 16 years. He has more than 100 members under Gurkha Contingent Dojo. He is married and has two daughters and a son.
