Kyokushin Karate is a hard style of karate, characterized by its realistic full-contact style of fighting, it's emphasis on graceful power in technique and it's use of "tameshiwari" in the development of spirit and character.
It was created in the early 1960’s by the founder Sosai Masutatsu (Mas) Oyama after his 30 year in depth study of various Martial Arts e.g. Chinese & Korean Kempo, Shotokan Karate, Judo, Goju Ryu Karate, Western Boxing etc.
Full Contact knock down martial arts tournament!
Kyokushin Karate, the only full contact knock down style karate, was back for the Asia tournament after 19 years. Singapore was selected to host the 11th Asia Full Contact Karate Championship 2008. We had participants from 15 different countries who took part at the event.
The event was organized by Singapore Oyama Karate-do Kyokushinkai-kan.
